Djenn
is:
Bunny Brown: Guitar/Bass/Lead
Vocals/Drums
Originally formed in 1996 as Jenifer, the band toured the Los Angeles area and recorded several tracks before breaking up in '99. In 2004, they reformed as Djenn, shifting from a darker, brooding tone, to a more particular sophistication, yet intentionally preserving the lo-fi quality of their recordings.
In February, 2006, their long-time drummer left the band in pursuit of other musical interests; Oscar Baldit on lead guitar, and Bunny Brown on vocals remained to continue Djenn. From 2006 to mid-2007, they recorded several previously unfinished tracks: "Demerol", "I Can't Stand the Sight of You", "Precious", "I Saw Dave" and "Twice in Two Minutes". Brown and Baldit further recorded the track, "Delivery". Live versions of some of these tracks and others from 2006 and earlier can be found here - - -
EXTRAS.
Djenn is currently a solo project by Brown. In 2009, Djenn released the debut album, "Amusing Disasters and Traps" containing 13 tracks of melodic and hard-hitting tunes of horror and beauty. Oscar Baldit provided lead guitar on both “Demerol” and “I Saw Dave”. A Special Guest appearance is also found on "Demerol", featuring Shannie-Bee on cello.
Djenn further released "Road Belong Cargo" in 2010, a most excellent album, containing 9 tracks.
In 2012, Djenn released the third album, "Snickersnee", containing 8 tracks, several of which are long-awaited, including the legendary "Similau" - Djenn's cover of a song popularized by Desi Arnaz in the 1940s.
In 2020, Djenn released "The Mechanics of Burning Out".
2021 saw the release of Djenn's compilation album, "Travels with Billy". The eight track album follows the adventures of its eponymous hero "Billy" between the years 1996 and 2021. The album features two tracks from Djenn's previous incarnation as Jenifer - "...More about Billy" and "The Web".
Djenn may be working on another album. Stay tuned.
